Elbert Larry Grim, Sr. , 75, of Snellville, Ga passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, GA. Mr. Grim was born on February 4, 1942 in Swan Lake, Arkansas to parents Reverend Randle Grim and Lizzie Jones (Patterson). He was preceded in death by parents Reverend Randle Grim and Lizzie Jones (Patterson); brothers Pete, Oscar, and Randle Jr.; sisters Sailer (Louise) and Sarah; and son Wayne Douglas Grim. During his life he had two previous marriages; Arnetta Louise Grim (Vann) - Deceased and Connie Lavon Grim (Stradwick).
Mr. Grim honorably served and retired as a member of the United States Army. He was a highly decorated Vietnam War veteran receiving many accolades during his 21 year military career. He served in three separate tours during the Vietnam War campaign and was the recipient of the National Defense Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Marksmanship Medal, and a host of other military accolades.
Following his military career he worked for the U.S. Post Office, and the Veteran’s Administration in Indianapolis, Indiana before retiring to McGehee, Arkansas. Mr. Grim enjoyed Westerns, Blues, and Singing. He also made several charitable contributions to UNICEF and “Feed The Children” initiatives during his lifetime.
He is survived by his children, Elberteen Larisa Thomas (husband Pastor Scott Thomas), Ramona Vanette Grim, and Elbert Larry Grim, Jr. (wife Scherrie Grim); 14 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, family, and friends.
