Charlie L. Hayes, age 82 of Cumming, GA, formerly of Snellville passed away on Sunday, June 9. Charlie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed. He was a long time member of Snellville United Methodist Church and Tuckston United Methodist Church in Athens, GA. Charlie was involved with the Appalachia Service Project mission program, was very active in the men and women’s church softball teams, and loved a good game of golf. He was an avid gardener much to the delight of his neighbors. He retired from Roadway Express after 38 years of service. Charlie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Erna Hayes, Cumming, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Kay & Chris Starnes, Duluth, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Joe & Lori Hayes, Atlanta, GA; daughter, Lisa Hayes, Alpharetta, GA; sister, Dorothy Kinney, Zephyrhills, FL; 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Farmer & husband Austin Farmer; Greg Brown; Adam Hayes; Emily Hayes; and great granddaughter, Emma Farmer.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy. (Hwy 78), Snellville, GA 30039, (770) 972-3155. Inurnment will follow in Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Eternal Hills Funeral Home.
