Barbara was born in Brooklyn, NY to Barney and Ruth Zeilikowitz on May 4, 1935. She was married to Laurence (Larry) Allen Fields on December 28, 1957 in New York. Barbara and Larry were married for 53 years. They were originally from New York and moved several times several times throughout their marriage, until they settled down in South Florida. Barbara moved to Duluth, GA in 2018 to be near her family.
Barbara was a graduate of Far Rockaway High School and New York City Community College of Applied Arts and Sciences. She worked as a Weight Watcher lecturer for over 20 years, in which she received several awards for her achievements. She also dabbled in catering and worked with her husband in furniture sales throughout their marriage. Barbara was an avid cook, loved to travel and enjoyed over 50 cruises, where she was a Diamond Plus member on Royal Caribbean. Barbara was also known as a bingo and card-playing aficionado. As quoted from one of her friends, Barbara was the ringleader of pulling everyone together, if she was not involved it was not as much fun.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Larry Fields, daughter Mindy Moss (survived by her husband Jeffrey) and brother Leonard Zelkowitz (survived by his wife Nancy).
Barbara is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Margaret Fields; great grandson Flinn Brefka; grandson Evan Fields; granddaughter Kaila Brefka and husband Dillon along with their niece and nephews Faith, Memphis and Cole; granddaughter Jenny Moss Gillis and husband Brian. She is also survived by a nephew, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, GA 30039. Arrangements are by Eternal Hills Funeral Home.
