She was born on October 28, 1954 in Barnwell, South Carolina to the late Sennie Mae Simmons.
Annie excelled early in life—exhibiting signs of being both engaging and intelligent as a youth. After earning acceptances and scholarship offers to multiple universities, she chose to attend Kentucky State University. There she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business, and she used her degree to become an accountant.
After earning her degree, she married her high school sweetheart Christopher Harris. That union created a beautiful daughter, Nakisha.
Annie’s love and dedication to Jehovah was confirmed by water baptism in 1985. Sister Harris was very zealous in sharing her faith with everyone, and she served as a pioneer for many years. All that knew her were touched by her smile and abundant love for Jehovah.
Affectionately called “Sissy”, Annie, was the person everyone knew they could count on for love and guidance—always present at graduations and important life moments, and was always just a phone call away. Her sense of humor was infectious, and her laugh warmed the heart. She provided sage advice and a listening ear.
Annie spent her final year being lovingly cared for by her daughter and son-in-law, Nakisha and Leon Dotson. On January 6, 2020, her battle with heart failure ended. She will be remembered for her kind and loving spirit, her sense of humor, and love for style that never diminished. Her journey was a testimony of her faith and love for Jehovah.
Those left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy are her Daughter: Nakisha Dotson, Son-in-Law: Leon Dotson, and Granddaughters: Ry’Land, Logan, and Peyton Dotson of Stonecrest, Georgia; Brothers: Jeremiah Scott (Kendra) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Alphonso Scott (Sharon) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Tyrone Simmons (Pam) of Holland, Michigan; Sister: Michelle Weaver (D’Andre) of Orlando, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother Sennie Mae Simmons and her sister Sylvia Taylor.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 11th at 4:30 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses
