I got to know Jan, Willard, and Sparky, when I visited my grandparents, Oscar and Ada Nite, who lived across the street. Jan was always very hospitable and raised a nice family. I'm glad she lived such a full life. All the best to Sparky.

Wow, I am shocked about Janice passing away. To be honest, I did not know Janice was alive all these years till now. I wish I had known. Her husband Willard was my first cousin, the son of Blanche. Aunt Blanche was the sister of my mother Carrie Mae Wooldridge Cummings.
Rest in peace cousin.

I have so many great memories of going to Smithville and always re-connecting with the Texas side of my family.  It was a long haul from Missouri, but always worth it. I sat down with Jan ( and probably some other family, heck there was always lots of folks there) and she explained the family history to me. That was really special.  I remember the good eats at Jan and Willard's. Those darn roosters I remember well.  There is so much more. She always embraced us as family....because we were.  As time went along and life got busy, I didn't get down much, but there will always be a special place in my heart for my Mom's Texas family. And believe you me, my grandmother (Dorothy Starr) would have been proud of how Jan (and all of you for that matter) kept Joanne and Uncle Bobby's families a part of it all since we lost Nana so early. You were special Jan and Willard!

I have such great memories as a child visiting with all the Smithville Clan.  We had such fun and great laughs not to mention great food that will always be remembered.  Jan's laugh and humorous wit is one we will not forget.  She and Willard always welcoming to everybody.

My heartfelt thanks to Aunt Jan who became my mother figure 48 years ago when my mom, her sister died.  You could always call and say my family of 7 would like to come down from MO and see you, and you were instantly part of her and Uncle Willards family. Love, laughter, tons of good food would always welcome us.  Love them so much as well as my great cousins, Janice Marilyn,(Sister), Betty Lou,(Sparky, Jack and Tom. Your niece  Joanne and husband Del.

God Bless you all, I cherished our family reunions in Smithville..Jan and Willard always had warm welcomes!! Loved all the "heckling" with Jan and Willard and all the family!

I remember the first time I met "Mama" Wallace was one weekend before Jack & I were going to work for Geotech Corp., Garland, TX in Sep 1960.  She was a very gracious lady to an old country boy like me.  I was one of her kids. even though we only talked on the phone every once in a while through the years. I always called her "Mama". We attended Church on Sunday & had a good Sunday dinner. I know she is in a much better place now & celebrating with Jesus!!  She will be missed by everyone who knew her.  Cecil Morgan
