He was born September 19, 1927 in Perth-Victoria Co., New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Ambrose J. Goodine and Margaret E. Whalen.
In his teens he came to Maine with his family, entered the US Army serving his country from October 1945 to November 1946, after being discharged joined the National Guard where he served for many years.
After returning home he opened Goodine’s Truck Service which he owned and operated for more than 50 years. Stuart was a hard worker who was devoted to his business and family.
He and his wife Amy worked many years together, she was his bookkeeper; they were together 24/7. Together they greatly enjoyed riding their BMW motorcycles (one of three). He was a member of the 500,000 mile club for BMW, also a member of the BMW motorcycle owners club.
He is survived by his son Larry Goodine and his wife Frances, granddaughters; Leisa Doughty and her husband Peter, Stephanie Ross and her husband Scott, great-grandchildren; Megan, Nicholas and Joshua Doughty, Alexandria, Jack and Derek Ross, two sisters; Betty and Leona, four brothers; Eugene, Patrick, Guy and Paul, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Amy whom he married in 1954; she passed away in 1997, and by his brothers Leo, Laurie and Charles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday October 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water Street, Skowhegan, Maine, and burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Skowhegan, Maine.
