She was born April 24, 1949, in Skowhegan, Maine, the daughter of Afton (Baird) Hayden and Bernard Hayden.
Roxie grew up in Madison, graduating from Madison High School in 1967.
She married Richard Wallace on June 26, 1971 in Norridgewock, Maine.
She worked at the Norrwock Shoe Company after high school. She also worked for SAD#54 as an Ed Tech Roxie was employed by the District for 30 years. Roxie loved working with each student.
Roxie was very dedicated to Maine Children’s Home for Little Wonderers for the last 30 years starting out in Norridgewock as a friends group, helping with Christmas programs and summer camp. Roxie served three terms on the board of directors equaling a total of 12 years. When she passed away she was secretary of the board of directors and served on the executive committee. From 1986 and before she has dedicated her time to the Norridgewock Rec. Dept. serving in many roles and programs from swimming to volley ball and many years serving on the board.
She loved to scrapbook, pictures were one of her many passions, loved to spend time with friends sharing memories. Roxie also enjoyed quilting very much making beautiful quilts for her family. She was currently teaching a beginners quilting class at SAD# 54 in Adult Ed.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard Wallace of Norridgewock, her son Randy Wallace, her granddaughters; Samantha, Joanna, her grandsons; Jacob and Dylan, her brother Leonard Hayden and his wife Amanda, sisters; Ellouise Clark and her husband Jamie, Debra Foss and her husband Gary, Donna Keaton and her husband Derek, several nieces, many nephews, several great-nephews and many great nieces.
She was predeceased by her son Ryan Wallace, her mother Afton Hayden and her father Bernard Hayden.
A Funeral service will be held on Saturday February 21, 2015 at 1 p.m., at the First Congregational Church, 32 River Road, Norridgewock, with a reception to follow at Church.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
