Rita E. Wetzler

Rita E. (Massey) Carey Wetzler, 91, of 368 West Ridge Rd., Cornville, ME passed away on Thursday October 13, 2011 at Cedar Ridge Rehab and Living Center following a brief illness. She leaves her loving husband Elliott.

Rita was born April 12, 1920, in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick, Canada. She was the daughter of the late Maryann (Thibodeau) and Louis Massey of Waterville, Maine.

She was a supervisor at Allied Control in Southington, CT, for many years, returning to Maine after retiring.

She was the beloved wife of Elliott E. Wetzler for 62 years she also leaves her loving dog Pepe. She is survived by her daughter Renee Irene and her husband Paul Pryor, of Wolcott, CT, and sons Steve Carey of Solon, Ronald Carey and his wife Marion of Stafford Springs, CT, Eugene Carey and his wife Charlene of Skowhegan, she leaves 22 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren, she also leaves a brother Donald Massey and his wife Pat of Winslow and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Arthur L. Carey Jr., her brothers; Steve, Nelson, George, Alfred, Leo, and John Massey, her sisters; Margaret Stewart and Irene Brown.

Viewing hours will be held on Sunday October 16, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday October 17, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water Street, Skowhegan, Maine. Burial will be held on Wednesday October 19, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta, Maine.
