He was born March 30, 1924 in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, the son of Raymond C. Templin Sr. and Ruby (McCullough) Templin Elsther.
He graduated from High School in Pennsylvania in the class of 1942, and then he attended college in Pennsylvania. Ray also served in the US Army Air Corp from 1942 thru 1945 during WWII; he served as a radioman waste gunner, receiving three bronze stars during the wilds of the military.
Ray worked for the Flying Tigers after the war in Air Cargo, then for Japan Airlines in the Air Cargo for many years.
He was a member of the Ephrata Penn of 60 years, a member of the American Legion and the VFW in PA.
Ray was an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved to travel, traveling all over the world over the years, and he was a jokester among friends. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his one son John Templin Sr. and his wife Linda of Smithfield, two grandchildren; John W. Templin Jr. and his wife Ceara of Oakland, Kira Templin of Norridgewock, one great-granddaughter Abigail Templin of Oakland, one brother-in-law Stu Dunlap of PA., two nieces and two nephews and several cousins, close friends; Wanda Steward, Sherry Jewell, Micky Courtemache, and John Bickford.
He was predeceased by his mom and dad, his sister Patricia Dunlap of Lancaster, PA, and brother-in-law Max Roehrl from Munich, Germany.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday October 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gould Cemetery in Smithfield, with Rev. Bert Brewster Officiating.
Ray was loved by everyone and missed by all.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
