CORNVILLE – Randy B. Wright, 65, of Cornville, was born in Waterville on Dec. 2, 1958, to Barbara (White) Wright-Harthorn and Carl Wright of Cornville. Randy passed away on Dec. 9, 2023, after a sudden decline in health with his family and friends by his side. Randy grew up on Hilton Hill in Cornville. He graduated from Skowhegan Area High School, class of 1977.
Randy married Debbie Cooley from Canaan on June 19, 1982.
After graduating Randy became the 3rd generation to operate the family business, The Pittsfield Woolen Yarn Co until its closing in 2003. Randy was very proud to start another family business with his two sons Brent and Brian. Together they purchased Georges Banana Stand in 2006. Randy further expanded his business venture with the purchase of The Solon Corner Market in 2015. Both these stores are in full operation today, employing over 50 people.
Randy loved entertaining his family and friends whether it be at home or at one of his camps. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He especially enjoyed his time at West Carry. Randy loved his grandchildren dearly He loved watching them grow and spending time with them. He was proud to be their “Papa”. They each held a special place in his heart.
He was predeceased by his parents, his stepmother Rita E. Wright, ex-wife Deborah L. Wright and his youngest son Brady Owen Wright. He was also predeceased by lifelong friends, Kirk McGowan and Tim Holt.
Randy is survived by his two sons Brent Wright of Skowhegan, Brian Wright and partner Alexis of Skowhegan, five grandchildren Gabrielle, Mason, MacKenzie, Lydia and Evelynn, his sister Terry L. Wright Watson and partner Loren F. Walker, Jr. as well as many lifelong friends.
The family would like to thank caretakers Jill, Chrissy, Julie and Lauri as well as everyone at Beacon Hospice.
A service will be held on January 6, 2024, at 12 p.m., at the Federated Church, 13 Island Avenue in Skowhegan and a celebration of his life immediately following the service at the Skowhegan-Madison Elks Lodge on 21 Silver Street in Skowhegan.
