Paul “Chuck” Charles Keaten, 58, of Brighton, passed away Thursday June 21, 2012 in Skowhegan, Maine, surrounded by his family.
He was born August 15, 1953 in Hartland, Maine, the son of Paul E. and Nathalene (Cooley) Keaten.
Chuck was educated in the Brighton and Athens schools.
He was a self-employed mechanic for many years. After serving in the Marine Corp, he owned and operated a Texaco gas station in Virginia. He moved back to Maine in 1984.
He loved to ride his motorcycle with Paul and he enjoyed going to Christopher’s football games. He played Santa at the Spurwink School in Cornville for many years. He loved spending time with his family and his other two “boys” Whiskers and Piglet.
Besides his wife Kimberly of twenty five years of Brighton, he also leaves behind two sons; Paul Keaten II and his wife Charlotte of Athens, Christopher Duncombe and his wife Lori of MA, two sisters; June Cromwell and her husband Freeman of Brighton, Carolyn Roderick of Brighton, one granddaughter Aubrieann Keaten of Athens, several nieces and nephews and one great-niece and one great-nephew, as well as great friends Kevin and Sonja McSweeney and their children Amanda and Garrett all of Athens.
He was predeceased by his mother and father.
Viewing hours will be held one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday June 26, 2012, at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine, a celebration of life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.
