SCARBOROUGH- Natalie J. McCarty, 85 of Lyman passed peacefully on April 18, 2023 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, surrounded by her daughters. Natalie was born in Amesbury, Massachusetts on November 20, 1937 to Alfreda and Owen J. Justin. She graduated from Amesbury High School in 1955, and from the Chandler School for Women in Boston in 1957.
Natalie was united in marriage to John "Jack" McCarty in 1975, which also united her three children and his six children together into a lovingly chaotic home. Natalie held a few positions which included legal secretary, paralegal, and administrative assistant, before retiring to enjoy her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed going to dance recitals, school functions, and sporting events; you could always hear her cheering from the stands!
Throughout the years, Natalie enjoyed crafting, painting, knitting and reading. She was also a past President of Semper Fidelis women’s organization and was a long-time member of the Christ the King Parish.
She was predeceased by her husband Jack and her sons Owen S. Quirion and Ralph (David) McCarty, and her grandson, Lucas A. Verardo. Natalie is also survived by her Goddaughter, Deb Salewski, who took such kind and loving care of her during her final days.
Natalie is survived by her children, Kathy Q. Williams and her husband John and Laurie Q. Cormier and her husband Jeffrey, Donald McCarty and his wife Kelly, Robert McCarty and Carol Denton, Charles McCarty and his wife Sylvia, Paul McCarty and his wife Valerie, and Mary Quirion and her husband Pierre "Skip" and by her daughter-in-law, Ramona Quirion. Natalie also cherished her grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 24, 2023 from 9-11am , at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Avenue, Skowhegan, Maine. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm immediately following at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, 283 Water Street, Skowhegan, Maine. Burial at Cavalry Cemetery will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Natalie’s name to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 390 US Route One, Scarborough, Maine 04074. They were instrumental in making Mom’s last days comfortable, respectful and peaceful.
