1951-2013 ATHENS - Lorna L. Keaten, 62, of Athens, passed away on Nov. 23, 2013, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born on Sept. 11, 1951, in Hartland, daughter of Malcolm L. Keaten and Frances L. (McKenney) Keaten. She graduated from Madison High School, class of 1970. She worked at DeLongs in Harmony as a stitcher for three years. Then she went to work for Norrwock Shoe Co., in Skowhegan as a stitcher for a short time. She then worked at Tissue's Boarding Home in Athens for a couple of years. Then, she spent many years babysitting for family and neighborhood children. Lorna loved to read, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, she always looked forward to the McKenney's monthly family lunches, she loved her cat, Katie, and she loved spending time with her family. Lorna had a wonderful personality and was always willing to help anyone in need. She is survived by her mother, Frances Keaten, of Skowhegan, one brother, Mark Keaten and his wife, Joan, of Waxahachie, Texas, one niece, Melanie Proffitt and her husband, Matt, of Texas, one great-nephew, Ethan Proffitt, of Texas, two nephews, Jeffery Keaten and his wife, Amy, of Boise, Idaho, Thomas Keaten and his wife, Stephanie, of New Jersey, one great-nephew, Luke Keaten, of New Jersey, one great-niece, Brynne Keaten, of New Jersey; two aunts, Betty Whiting, of Athens, Melba Linkletter, of Athens, and several cousins. She is predeceased by her father, Malcolm Keaten Visiting hours for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at the Federated Church , Island Ave., Skowhegan, Maine, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in her name to the Somerset Humane Society, P.O.
