She was born August 15, 1942 in Farmington, Maine, the daughter of Walter Tracy and Grace (Nutting) Tracy.
Linda graduated from Farmington High School in the class of 1960.
She married Raymond E. Murray, Jr. on September 3, 1960 in Farmington, Maine; he passed in October of 2008.
She worked as a secretary at for Norrwock Shoe Co. in Norridgewock, as well as for Medwed Shoe Co. in Skowhegan. For many years, she was the office manager at Christmas Tree Acres in Norridgewock for the Newman Family. Also, she worked for the Maine Harness Racing Association, traveling as the head banker. Additionally, she was a homemaker for many years.
Linda was a member of the Skowhegan Federated Church in Skowehgan and of their Women’s Fellowship. She volunteered in the Skowhegan Soup Kitchen for many years. Attending Shriner’s events with her husband, reading to children at the Shriner’s Hospital, bowling, playing cards with friends, and ladies’ Thursday night dinners were amongst activities she loved. She took delight in traveling to many places with her family, including Florida, California, Hawaii, and Las Vegas, and she especially enjoyed trips to Florida with her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and her great-grandson, the light of her life.
She is survived by her three children; her daughter Beth Norweg and her husband Kurt of Norridgewock, her two sons; Brian Murray of Norridgewock, Randall Murray and his wife Deborah of Smithfield, her grandchildren; Kevin and Kyle Norweg, Troy Johnson, Michael Downer, who is currently serving in Afghanistan, and his fiancé Kristin Crockett, great-grandson Carter, brother Earl Tracy and his wife Donna of Kennebunk, her godchild Melanie Nunan of Kennebunk, two brothers-in-law; Morris Murray and his wife Martha of Norridgewock and Florida, Douglas Murray and his wife Noreen of Madison, and five sisters-in-law; Eva Bussell and her husband Norris of Madison, Hester Murray of Madison, Pamela Gordon and her husband James of Norridgewock, Donna Bickford and her husband Lenard of Norridgewock, and Linda Atkinson and her husband Michael of Norridgewock. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Jeffrey W. Murray, her mother, father, and husband.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rev. Mark Tanner, Dr. Gina Gomez, Dr. Lance Lanoy, EMS Ambulance Service, the Staff at Redington Fairview General Hospital, the staff at Central Maine Medical Center, Maine General Medical Center – Thayer Unit, and the Skowhegan Dialysis Unit for all their wonderful support and care.
Visitation will be held on Monday February 18, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday February 19, 2013 at 3 p.m. at the Skowhegan Federated Church, Island Ave., Skowhegan, Maine, with the Rev. Mark Tanner Officiating. A committal service will be held in the spring at the Sunset View Cemetery in Norridgewock.
