He was born March 13, 1957 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the son of John J. Hladinec and Maureen (Sullivan) Hladinec.
John graduated from Rahway High School in the class of 1976. He went into the US Army at Fort Dix, NJ.
He was the owner of the Tri-County Real Estate in Cambridge and then Athens for many years. Prior to selling real estate, John drove for Coles Express cross country and driving locally here in Maine.
He was the vice commander and then commander of the American Legion in Dexter for 10 years. He was a member of the Church of the Open Bible in Athens. John enjoyed hunting, fishing camping, traveling the United States and internationally, gardening and farming.
He is survived by his mother Maureen Hladinec of Rahway, NJ; his son, Shane J. Hladinec of Middleburg, FL; his two sisters, Helen Freshcoln and her husband Harold of Lucas, TX, Ann Cortez of Lebanon, PA; two grandchildren, Faith and Avery; a sister in law Maria Hladinec of Monroe, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father John J. Hladinec and his brother Charles Hladinec.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine, with a funeral to follow at 2 p.m. with the Pastor Richard Haynie officiating. Burial to follow at Mount Rest Cemetery in Athens, Maine.
