NORRIDGEWOCK – James A. Roderick, 74, died on May 19, 2018 at Maplecrest Rehab in Madison with his daughter at his side. He was born in Bangor on November 2, 1943 the son of Clara (Taylor) and Paul Roderick, Sr. James graduated from Skowhegan High School and when he attempted to enter the military he was denied when he learned that he was a diabetic. He went to work at Roderick’s Machine Shop, a family business, for a while. Then, we went on to work at Skowhegan Electric Motors for 29 years before his retirement.
James liked to restore old cars and build things out of Coca-Cola coolers. He liked to draw pictures of old cars and when he saw and old car he knew the precise year, make and model. He was especially fond of his cat, Rosie
James is survived by his daughter, Karrie Hibbard and her husband William of Madison and granddaughter, Kayla Roderick of Anson. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Tracy Roderick; wife, Susan Roderick; and step-mother, Glenys Roderick
Karrie extends her deepest appreciation to the staff at Maplecrest who took great care of her father while he was there. She also appreciates the hospice team for keeping him comfortable at the end of his life.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm, Thursday, May 24, at Southside Cemetery, Skowhegan with Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.
