She was born September 9, 1925 in Kingfield, Maine, the daughter of Raymond and Lillian (Durrell) Murray. She grew up in Kingfield with her four brothers Donald, Jack, Royden, and Bill and her sister Rowena. As a teen, she enjoyed playing basketball. She was the captain of her team. She enjoyed dancing the jitter bug and never sat at a dance, she will always be known as “Peanut” by her family and close friends. She graduated from Kingfield in 1943 and then Bliss College in 1945.
She worked in the office for Pepperell Manufacturing Company for 6 years in Lewiston before returning to Kingfield to marry Clayton James Wilber on November 20, 1949. She went to work at Sugarloaf Mt. selling tickets for 13 years and from there she went to work for Kingfield Savings Bank as a teller and treasurer for 16 years retiring in 1990.
Hilma was well known for playing solitaire with her cards and you would always find her rocking in her chair. She loved ceramics and putting together puzzles she always had one in progress. She and Clayton loved to go camping, and snowmobiling with their group of friends. She was a member of the Sno Wanderer’s Club. She was a die-hard Celtics and Red Sox Fan.
She leaves two daughters, Deborah Lessard and her husband, Robert of Dexter, Cynthia Chase and her husband, Jeffrey of Skowhegan; four grandchildren, Shawna Richard and her husband Noah, Heather Lessard, Melanie Immediato, and Megan Beauchemin and her husband Kyle; five great grandchildren, Coty Seamans and his wife Lindsey, Dustin Ricker and his fiancé Trista Ryder, Chase Immediato, Mitchell Dionne, and Kaia Beauchemin; three great-great grandchildren, Kraiden, Kalum, Daigen; her brother Donald Murray of Kingfield; many nieces, nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents and her husband Clayton; three brothers Jack, Royden, and Bill; her sister Rowena.
A special thank you to Beacon Hospice especially Candi and Sherene for the wonderful loving care they gave in her last days.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday October 7, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, ME.
A funeral service will be held Sunday October 8, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at the Western Mt. New Baptist Church, Rt. 27 Kingfield, ME.
