Henry J. Hinman Jr., 73, of Embden, passed away peacefully Friday, July 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by family. He was born July 4, 1943 in Sarasota, Florida, the son of Henry J. Hinman Sr., and Yvonne (Willis) Hinman. He graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield in the class of 1962. Henry then attended the University of Maine at Orono. While there, he met his wife of 52 years, Ellen Gourley originally of Milo. They were married in North Anson on August 20, 1964. Henry was the president of North Anson Reel Company and Forest Products Supply for many years. He was a founding member of the Seaplane Pilots Association in Florida. He loved to fly and considered himself a bush pilot. He loved to go fast no matter what he was driving. An avid automobile enthusiast, he was definitely a motor head, first and foremost. He also enjoyed time spent with family. He is survived by Ellen of Sarasota, FL., his two sons, Henry J. Hinman III and his wife Charlotte of Sarasota, Florida, Jeremy Hinman and his wife Stacey of Troutman, NC; his four grandchildren, Henry J. Hinman IV, John “Jack” Hinman, Alexander J. Hinman, Emily C. Hinman; three brothers, Richard Hinman and his wife Cathy of Sarasota, FL & Embden, Robert Hinman of Sarasota, FL & Embden, David Hinman and his wife Lynette of Sarasota, FL, and one Nephew and two Nieces. He is predeceased by his parents, Henry and Yvonne Hinman, and his daughter Natalie K. Hinman. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. A private ceremony for his immediate family will be held at the Sunset Cemetery in North Anson.
