SKOWHEGAN- Claire M. Tracey, of Skowhegan, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at Cedar Ridge Rehab and Nursing Center in Skowhegan. She was born on May 12, 1927, in Madison, Maine, the daughter of George and Delia (Cyr) Dionne.
She married Eugene Tracey on August 2, 1947 in Skowhegan. He passed away in 2010.
She started working as a telephone operator in the Skowhegan area until becoming the co-owner and operator of the Skowhegan Dry Cleaners for more than 50 years.
She was a communicant of the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic church in Skowhegan. She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, listening to music, going out to eat, watching Jeopardy (usually answering most of the questions). She also loved being by the water, good laughs and spending time with her family and friends.
Claire is survived by her two children; Cynthia Goodman and her husband, Richard of Queensbury, N.Y, Eric “Rick” Tracey and his wife Rhonda of Skowhegan, one sister; Pauline Kimball of Skowhegan, six grandchildren; Tyler Tracey, Tim Tracey, Keith Burns, Kris Gotsmanova, Amanda Breheny, Drew Goodman, two great grandchildren; Alexis Burns, Maci Burns, four sister-in-laws; Jeannette Dionne of Skowhegan, Angela Dionne of Skowhegan, Susan Palmer of Las Vegas, NV, Louise Tracey of Kissimmee FL., one brother-in-law; Robert Palmer of Las Vegas, NV., and many Nieces and Nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; George and Delia (Cyr) Dionne, two sisters; Alice Demonte, and Theresa Paradis, five brothers; Paul, Albert, Valmond, Patrick and Leo Dionne.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on December 29th, 2012 at 10:00 a.m at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Water St., Skowhegan.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cedar Ridge Rehab and Nursing Center, especially the Nurses and CNA’s at Elm house for their kind and compassionate care. We will be forever grateful for the special attention she received. Also the family would like to extend a special thanks to Beacon Hospice.
Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one’s own choice.
