SKOWHEGAN -
Barbara M. Merrow, 80, of Skowhegan, died peacefully, surrounded by her adoring and loving family Dec, 20, 2013, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She was born Oct. 15, 1933, in Skowhegan, the daughter of Miles H. and Helen M. (Quinn) Miner. Barbara graduated from Skowhegan High School class of 1951. She started out working as a waitress in the Skowhegan area for many years. She then worked for many years at Norrwock Shoe Co. in Skowhegan and Norridgwock as a secretary. In the '70s she went to work for KVCAP spending many additional years as the office manager retiring in 1999. She liked to cook, enjoyed helping people, and loved spending time with her family doing crossword puzzles, reading and watching game shows. She was a lifelong member and very active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles Club in Skowhegan. She is survived by four children, Sheila Horton and her husband, Joseph, of Skowhegan, Danny Patrick, of Skowhegan, James Quinn and his wife, Katie, of South Portland, and Timothy Merrow, of Skowhegan; two sisters, Calla Gates, of Florida, and Marilyn Beuhler, of Florida; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Rita Adams, of East Madison. She was predeceased by her parents; one son, Michael Merrow; and two brothers, Miles Miner Jr. and Gary Miner Sr. May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand. A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at at the Skowhegan Eagles Club, 164 Water St., Skowhegan, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.
