Alice Marie Lowe, a beloved wife, mother, and friend to many, went to sleep on this earth and woke up in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 28th, 2022, at the age of 75. Alice may have lost her battle with cancer on this earth, but has gained the heavenly victory and is now gloriously healed.
Alice was born in Lewiston, Maine, on January 31, 1947, to the daughter of Rita Carr and Russell Raymond.
Alice met the love of her life, Donald K Lowe Sr, at the Skowhegan State Fair and were married 4 years later in July 1964. They spent 60+ loving and fulfilling years together. Until recent years, when Alice started feeling ill, they were always seen doing life together; camping, taking Sunday drives, going to car shows, vacationing in Aruba, yard sailing, visiting the Amish stores, playing card games with friends, and just enjoying life together.
They have two children: Ken Lowe and wife Luann of Bangor, Kathy Conley and husband Steve of Skowhegan. She has 8 grandchildren: that were the light of her world. Drew and wife Meagan, Leah Conley and partner Chris Caron, Brittney Veilleux and husband Rosaire, Stephen Conley and wife Katie, Timothy Conley and wife Tisha, Nathanael Conley and wife Libby, Sarah Tanguay and husband Josh, Cassie Conley and 14 great grandchildren with 2 on the way.
Alice’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Enjoying each moment and cherishing the memories that were to be made. She was also known for her witty humor, warm smiles, and compassionate heart. Alice loved encouraging those around her and led a beautiful example of Christ's hope during hard times.
From a young age, Alice had a lifelong dream to become a nurse and use her gifts of compassion to help others and share the love of Jesus. After her kids began school, she went back to college and earned her nursing degree. She was a loyal and compassionate employee for 39 years at Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, Maine. She was promoted as nurse manager of the OB department where she served for many years.
Alice received Jesus as her Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday 1976 at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Skowhegan, Maine. She later became a member of Crossroads Bible Church and in the final years of her life, Faith Baptist Church, where her daughter’s husband Pastors in Skowhegan. Her desire was to glorify the Lord Jesus and to share His love through her words and through her actions. She could be found serving in the local Church wherever was needed. She volunteered as a camp nurse many summers and often was seen praying with her patients. She was a true treasure, greatly loved, and will be missed by so many.
We wanted to give our sincere thanks to the hospice nurses and caregivers who spent time caring for Alice and for the many visitors who stopped by to bring food or just sit with her and to give a word of encouragement. Thank you for making a difference.
