Yvonne Morton Hudson

Retired educator Yvonne Morton Hudson of Burtonsville, MD passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, after a battle with lung cancer. She was 71 years old and is survived by her beloved husband McKinley of 48 years, her children McKinley Jr and Shawna, her son-in-law Ralph Pantozzi, and her cherished grandchildren Mira and Kara. Yvonne is, also, survived by her sister Patricia and her two loving aunts Helen and Ruby as well as other extended family in Cincinnati, OH and other parts of the US. Originally a native of Cincinnati, OH, Yvonne travelled the world as an Army wife and had a long career as an elementary school educator teaching in Ohio, Georgia, Germany, California and Maryland. She retired after a total of 43 years with her final 14 years spent at Rockview Elementary School in Kensington, Maryland. Yvonne was a leader and active member of her community as part of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the Maryland State Education Association, the Montgomery County Education Association, the League of Women Voters, the Wings for Joy, and the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Silhouettes. Visitation with the family at 9am followed by a funeral service at 11am on Monday, February 23, 2015 at the People’s Community Baptist Church, 31 Norwood Avenue, Silver Spring MD.
