Robert Eugene Colvin, 79, of Ft. Myers, FL, died March 5, 2017, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Ft. Myers, Fl.
Mr. Colvin was born February 4, 1938, in Washington, DC, to Stuart and Beatrice (Burton) Colvin.
He attended Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, MD. He continued his education at University of Maryland, studying Veterinarian Medicine, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He was a member of Silver Spring Masonic Lodge #215, James F. Allen Royal Arch Chapter #33 and Montgomery Commandary #13 Knights Templar.
Mr. Colvin went on to become a firefighter, employed with Silver Spring VFD, Takoma Park VFD and District of Columbia Fire Department. He was the Co-Founder and President/CEO of Maryland Fire Equipment Corporation in Rockville, MD.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois (Hartwell) Colvin of Ft. Myers; three children, Robert Colvin, Jr., Shelley Colvin, and R. Scott Colvin; four grandchildren, Thomas Daly, Alyssa Testo and husband Nick Testo, Rachel Colvin and D. Scott Colvin, daughter-in-law, Christine Defibaugh, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD. Visitation with the family from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, with the funeral service beginning at 12 noon. Interment at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery immediately following the service. .
