Ollie, survived by his wife of 8 years, Barbara Peters leaves behind a son, Oliver Peters Jr. and two stepsons, Matthew and Pete Marshman along with five grandchildren and one great grandson. He also leaves behind a brother, David Peters, and sister, Harriet Williamson.
Ollie served in the US Army as a Sergeant during the latter part of WW II and was stationed overseas in occupied Japan.
Ollie was an active sports player. Even into his nineties, Ollie played softball with the over 70 senior softball league in Montgomery County Maryland. He was also a long-time member of the Argyle Country Club in Silver Spring where he and Barbara golfed and dined often.
Ollie worked for the Sherwin-Williams Co. for over 46 years, retiring in the late 1990s. He managed stores in Washington, D.C. on 14th Street, in McLean, Virginia and then transferred to Wethersfield, CT for a few years. Ollie finished his career as a District Manager in Jessup, MD.
Ollie, the middle child of five brothers and sisters, loved family. He is the one responsible for the most anticipated yearly vacation event – The Peters Family Reunion. For 48 years Ollie’s brothers, sisters, along with their own children (and now their children’s children) gather at a freshwater lake for a full week of fun, food, and more fun. Ollie’s vision ended up being a “can’t miss” yearly event. Without that vision, cousins would have never known each other. Now, everyone is Family.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Ollie at the Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home on Friday, July 23rd from 1-3 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to The American Cancer Society: https://www.cancer.org/
