Mei spent her early childhood in Taishan along with her older brother Kit Chiu Lee, younger sister Mei Yiu Lee, and younger brother Chiu Lun Lee, raised by their beloved parents. Being the oldest daughter in the family, she had learned to take on many family responsibilities at a young age to ease the burden of her parents by helping out with household chores as well as taking care of her younger siblings.
At a young age, Mei met the love of her life, Mr. See Chiu Lee, of five decades. The couple soon got married, moved to Hong Kong, and had three lovely daughters, Wing Hung, Wing Tsz and Wing Man. In the following years, Mei had selflessly dedicated all her time to care for her husband and provided a loving and nurturing environment for her children. There were challenging periods throughout the years, with most significant being the diagnosis of a heart valve issue requiring a major heart surgery on Mei and next being the family’s immigration to the United States in 1996. Despite these obstacles, Mei had continued to provide persistently the best home and care for her family while navigating through these challenges.
Upon moving to the US, Mei first worked in a Chinese supermarket and then as a hotel housekeeper for several years while self-studying English. Her immense perseverance and strength shined through her dedication to learning the English language, thus she was able to find a better job within the Montgomery County Public School. When an opportunity came, she also strived to challenge herself to acquire new skillsets for her to take on a higher position, highlighting Mei’s hardworking and ambitious qualities.
After retirement, Mei began to take part in many local senior communities and discovered her true passion in dancing and music. Mei had since participated in many dancing performances in community events and attended many social gatherings with her close friends. The gorgeous and glowing smile on her face was a testament of her love and passion for dancing as well as her happiness when surrounded by all the friends she valued very much.
Mei is survived by her husband: See Chiu, her children: Wing Hung, Wing Tsz, and Wing Man, her seven beautiful grandchildren: Sammy, Anson, Priscilla, Nathan, Skylar, Marcus, and Lucas, and her siblings: Kit Chiu, Mei Yiu, and Chiu Lun.
May we forever remember Mei and her beautiful smile.
