John Knapp Bacon “Jack” On Monday, July 28, 2014 John passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Virginia Bacon; loving father of Joyce(Keith) Matney and Carolyn (Dennis) Rude; cherished grandfather of Kelley Matney, Rachel Matney, and Meg Rude; adored brother of George (Jane) Bacon. John was born on July 23, 1930 in Norfolk, VA. He was baptized at Park Place Methodist. He married Virginia in 1952. John served in the states in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He graduated from University of Maryland with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He was an Electronic Engineer at Naval Ordnance Lab in White Oak, MD for 30 years; he retired in 1992. Friends may call at the Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD on Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 3 – 7pm. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Good Shepherd UMC, 9701 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20903 at 11 am. Interment is private.
