He is survived by his beloved son James, III and former wife Ellie Hitt, mother Terri, father Jim and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was a long time resident of Leesburg, VA, attending Loundon County High School where he excelled academically and played on the varsity golf team for three years. Upon graduating from High School, he attended Penn State, Old Dominion and Central Florida where he received his Bachelor and Masters degrees.
Next Jim embarked on his professional career with his first venture being the Raytheon Corporation in Arizona. Although he never got a pilots license he discovered while in college that he had a true passion for the field of aviation. Over the next 25 years he took that passion to Unisys, Northrop Grumman/TASC, Concepts Solutions LLC, LS Technologies, LLC and P17 Solutions, LLC.
Sports was always a part of Jim’s life growing up. Baseball, soccer and golf all competed for his time. In the end, golf, won out and he and his father and uncle had a standard Sunday tee-time. He was 10 at the time. He carried that love of golf throughout his life. Jim also loved baseball and was a season ticker holder for the Washington Nationals. He was so excited when his team, the Nationals, won the World Series in 2019.
Jim was married in 2005 and in 2009 he and Ellie were blessed with a son, James, the highlight of their lives. Jim’s love of sports was in full swing as James grew from age 5-6 to today. Sports was always a part of Jim’s relationship with his son. Even more important was Jim’s support academically. He believed his support and encouragement of his son, whether scholastically or athletically, were fundamental to his healthy growth.
