It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Mr. Hai Dang Nguyen, who passed away on November 7, 2023, at Holy Cross Hospital at the age of 94. Mr. Nguyen was born on June 6, 1929, in Hai Phong, Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thanh Nhat Vu. Mr. Nguyen is survived by his children Ngoc Thuy and two children; Dang Ha with his wife, two children, daughter-in-law, and grandson; Anh Thu with her husband, two children, son-in-law, and two grandchildren; Dang Hien with his wife and two children; Dang Hy with his wife and two children; Thanh Thao with her husband and five children.
Mr. Hai Dang Nguyen graduated from the first Reserve Officer Nam Dinh Academy (1952), Law school in Saigon, Ecole Militaire d'Administration (Montpellier, France), Ecole Supérieure d'Intendance (Paris, France).
Throughout his career, Mr. Nguyen served in the following positions in the South Vietnam Government: Deputy Director of Cabinet of the Prime Minister’s Office, Executive Secretary of the Inter-departmental Economic and Financial Committee, and President of the Agricultural Development Bank of Vietnam. After arriving in the United States of America, he accepted the position of Budget Analyst for the Howard County Government in Maryland.
The viewing will be at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904 on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm and on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.
The funeral service mass will be at Our Lady of Vietnam Catholic Church, 11812 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904 on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The burial ceremony will be at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2150 Mt. View Road, Marriottsville, MD 21104 on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 12:00 pm.
