Gloria Jean Dunne was born on June 7, 1941, and passed peacefully on March 22, 2023, in Silver Spring, MD. Beloved wife to James Francis Dunne, daughter of Hilda and Stanley Pawelkoski, sister to Shirley Racioppo, mother to five children: Mary, Kevin, James, Chris, and Brian Dunne, mother-in-law to April, Demi, Caroline, and Nirene and grandmother to her 16 grandchildren: Amanda, Tyler, Connor, Shannon, Leah, Marika, Reese, Nicole, Shane, Christian, Madden, Veronica, Brianna, Addison, James, and William. She met her husband, James, while working in Washington, D.C. as a secretary for the Navy Department, and they were married for over 49 years before his passing in 2011. A devoted wife and loving stay-at-home mother, she kept very busy with her children’s activities, her many hobbies, her abundant church life, and traveling with her soulmate, Jimmy. When her children got older, she worked in the Montgomery County public school system for over 10 years. Gloria will be deeply missed, but we take solace in knowing that she is now in heaven, dancing with Jimmy, laughing with Shirley, and hugging her parents. Her legacy of love and devotion to her family will live on for generations through her children and grandchildren, and her impact will never be forgotten.
The funeral mass for Gloria Jean Dunne will take place at 12 noon on April, 1, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 12319 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20904, with a graveside service to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery located at 13801 Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who has loved and cared for our mother over the years. There is a special place in heaven for your loving souls. God bless you all.
