I cannot believe it has been a whole year since Eric left us.   His death left a big void at the Cosmos Club where he is fondly remembered by countless friends.   A group chipped in to have the club acquire a plaque in his honor to be placed on a chair in the garden bar where he frequently held court so that his spirit always will be present.    

Eric was a good friend to me always generous and kind I was terribly saddened to hear of this passing. Rest in peace dear friend.

Eric was a colleague and a friend.  I enjoyed our talks about history, books, travel, current events, and, occasionally, our assigned tasks.   He was knowledgeable about many subjects and believed that civil servants should provide political officials with the  best possible policy analysis and counsel, regardless of  the prevailing conventional wisdom.  He sought to make our nation’s transportation system safer and more efficient and was instrumental in achieving several important reforms.
