Carolyn Louise Jackson, 87, was ushered into eternal rest on May 1, 2023, at Georgetown University Medical Center. She was born on July 2, 1935 to the late Francis and Walter Bailey in Washington DC. She was educated in the DC Public School System and graduated from Dunbar High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Welfare from Federal City College. Carolyn was united into holy matrimony with the late Calvin Jackson and from this union, two beautiful children were born: the late Calvin Jr. and Cathleen.
Carolyn worked in the Federal Government until she retired from the National Institute of Health with over 30 years of service. She continued her career with the Entertainment & Sports Arena (Capital One) in Washington, DC for 14 years. She was affectionately called “mother dear” by many that loved and cherished her.
Carolyn enjoyed gardening and traveling. She planted flowers and plants inside and outside of her home. She was the sunshine for her flowers and her family. She travelled extensively nationally and internationally with C & J Travels. Some of her favorite places included Paris, Germany and Nova Scotia.
Carolyn was a devout Catholic and dedicated parishioner at Saint John Baptist de La Salle Catholic Church. The annual crab feast was one of her favorite events where she hosted family and friends.
She leaves to cherish to her memory her loving daughter Cathleen; 4 grandchildren: Candice, Helen, Tiffani, and Calvin III; 3 sisters: Joyce O’Bannon (Michael), Linda Jones, Anita Styles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, church family and friends.
