Barbara Ann Goldstein passed away on March 31, 2023 surrounded by her children and their spouses. She is predeceased by her husband of nearly 70 years, William (Bill) Goldstein. Barbara is also predeceased by her parents, Myrtle (Doyle) and William Nixon, and a sister Muriel. She is survived by her children Donna Goon (Lyman), Mark Goldstein (Karen), and Brian Goldstein (Kim). Barbara was the cherished grandmother of seven (Thomas Goldstein (Elizabeth Smith), Laura Rais-Bahrami (Soroush), Katherine Goldstein, Kyle Goon, Marissa Goon, Emily Goldstein and Olivia Goldstein), and great grandmother of three (Patrick, Emma and Christopher Rais-Bahrami). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Barbara was born in Newburgh, New York in 1931. After graduating from high school and her marriage, Barbara moved permanently in 1960 to Maryland with her family. She worked at several jobs throughout her lifetime including a local school cafeteria, a Lighthouse for the Blind food stand and a Hallmark card store. She also volunteered for several years at the Medstar Montgomery gift and thrift shops. Barbara’s indomitable spirit was highlighted by her total devotion to family, including weekly phone calls to check up on people, support and help during rough times, celebrating accomplishments, and really caring about what was going on in everyone’s life. No matter what challenges came her way, she never gave up and never stopped being grateful for her many blessings. Barbara, the eternal optimist, viewed life as a banquet, and continued to dance -- even as age gradually restricted her movement. Interment will be held at Norbeck Memorial Park at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Casey House (https://montgomeryhospice.org/donate-now/) or the Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad (https://www.wvrs.org/donate/).
