Bill was born on November 22nd, 1946 in Sikeston, Missouri to his parents William Brooks
Pinnell and Evelyn Francis Blankenship-Pinnell and resided in New Madrid, Missouri.
After graduating from high school at Sikeston Senior High and meeting the love of his life there,
Bill chose to serve his country by joining the Navy. During his time stationed in Maryland, he fell
even harder for the Miss Janice Rae Merriman, who he soon married on August 20th, 1966. Bill
and Jan chose to settle in the town of Sikeston to start their family after Bill served his time in
the Navy. They would have a loving son named Timothy Allen in 1969 and a beautiful daughter
named Leigh Anne in 1971.
When he wasn’t working, Bill had a passion for hunting, fishing, boating and always being the
life of any party.
Bill was predeceased by father - William Brooks Pinnell, mother - Evelyn Francis Blankenship-
Pinnell, wife - Janice Rae Merriman-Pinnell, son - Timothy Allen Pinnell, and granddaughter -
Emily Christine Pinnell. He is survived by great-grandchildren - Ryan Lee Carter-Bishop, Aubrie
Dawn Carter-Bishop, Reed Allen Walker, Sadie Kate Golden, Jaden Stanley Weiss, Jett Brian
Weiss, and Jonah William Weiss. Grandchildren - Shawn Lee Carter-Bishop, Tyler David
Golden (and Katelyn Elizabeth Golden), Jessica Rae Weiss (and Jordan Thomas Weiss),
Elizabeth Catherine Rataj (and Bobby Gene Walker), and Erin Miranda Pinnell. Children - Leigh
Anne Bishop (Lee Francis Bishop). Siblings - brother - Bobby and Lana Pinnell and sister -
Jackie and Bob Gardner.
Pallbearers will be Barry Pinnell, Jamie Gooch, Don Lacy, Ron Golden, Rick Lawson, and
Fred Moeller.
The family requests that flowers be sent to Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
There will be a funeral service held on Monday, February 14th, 2022 with a visitation open to the public at 11:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow starting at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Bill’s dear friend, Joe Rice.
Burial will be at Missouri State Veteran Cemetery at 3:00pm.
