Teddy “Trey” Joe Hardy Jr, age 65, of Sikeston, Missouri passed away on Sunday the 19th of February 2023. Trey was born in Abilene, TX to LTC (Ret) Teddy Joe Hardy Sr and LaVonne Dean Hardy. He grew up as a military brat traveling all around the country. After three years of attending High School at Leilehua High in Hawaii, he finished his senior year and graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock TX. Trey attended and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Cameron University in Lawton, OK in 1980. In his senior year of College on February 14th, 1980 Trey and Leslie Gaskill danced for the first time at a Valentine’s Day dance in the college dormitory.
Trey always demonstrated a unique ability to relate to people, put them at ease, make them feel valued and special and left them always with the feeling that they had gained a new friend.
From 1995 until he retired in 2012, Trey worked for the City of Sikeston, MO in several key positions, each successfully contributing to the residents of Sikeston. In 2014 he was contacted by Scott County Commission to join the team as Deputy Director of Emergency Management. Later, in 2016 he was promoted as the Director of the Emergency Management Agency which he served until his death in 2023. In his 28 years living in Sikeston, Trey was active in the community and got great enjoyment coaching sports programs for his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Meagan, his father LTC (Ret) Teddy Joe Hardy Sr, his mother Dean Hardy Brock and his brother David Kyle Hardy.
He is survived by his wife Leslie Hardy, his daughter Jessica Hardy (Zachary Thatcher), his son Jake (Lauren) Hardy and his grandchildren Nolan Thatcher and Leighton and Ben Hardy of Sikeston,MO. He is also survived by his step mother, Nell Hardy of Canyon Lake, TX, his step father Luther Brock of Fayetteville, NC, his brother COL (Ret) Chuck (Shari) Hardy, nephew Chad Hardy and niece Brittany (Ryan) Donovan all of Wilmington, NC. His sister-in-law Sandra (David) Hardy, nephew Corey (Katie) Hardy and niece Devin (Cody) Siegmann all of Norman, OK. Brother Scott (Da’laine) Hardy and niece Sarah Hardy of Oklahoma City, OK, brother Mark Bond (Donna) of San Marcos, TX and brother Ragan (Christie) Bond of Brenham, TX. Trey had an amazing love for all his family and his extended family that is too extensive to list but each of you know you were all very special in his heart.
Trey has always been a great supporter of Veterans Organizations and the American Cancer Association. Feel free to donate, in his memory, to these organizations.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO where funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
