Mary Etta Mitchell, age 89, of Sikeston, died August 25, 2015, at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston. Born December 3, 1925, in Lilbourn, to the late Clarence Calvin and Theresa Catherine Biler Cravens, she was a homemaker and member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston. She also was a member of the Altar Sodality, Legion of Mary and the Women of St. Francis Parish. On April 26, 1948, in New Madrid, she married Charles M. Mitchell, who preceded her in death on November 23, 1992.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Mont and Julia Mitchell of Rogers, Ark.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Jane and Larry Steward of Cape Girardeau and Terri and David Matthews of Sikeston; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Clement Cravens; four sisters, Hallie Broughton, Luella Hobbs, Patricia Ripley and Anna Jane Eichhorn; and one grandson, Ben Caleb Matthews.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
The funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Father Maria Thumma serving as celebrant.
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be C.M. Mitchell, Clay Matthews, J.D. Steward, Allen Findley, Stephen Franks and Eric Bronner.
