Lee O. Matthews, age 88, of Sikeston, Mo. died December 9, 2014, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Born September 27, 1926, in Miner, Mo. to the late Ben O. and Jennie Watts Matthews, he was the owner/operator of J&L Glass Co. in Sikeston for 35 years, and also owned Charleston Glass Co. in Charleston, Mo. He served in the United States Army Air Corps and was a member of the Sikeston Masonic Lodge #310. He was a member of the Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church in Sikeston. On May 5, 1946, in Jackson, he married Lillian Righter, who survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Ben A. “Drew” and Yvonne Moll Matthews of College Station, Texas and Scott A. and Mary Matthews of Clyde Hill, Washington; and one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Betty Matthews of Jackson, Mo. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Aynsley Moll Matthews, Taryne Moll Matthews, Jacob Matthews, Katherine Matthews and Grace Matthews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John A. Matthews and one grandson, Harrison Moll Matthews.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, December 12th at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at the Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church, with John Goodwin, minister, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
