She was born on May 30, 1941, in Sikeston, MO, to the late Edward and Carrie Clinton Smith.
Judy was the Past President of the Sikeston, MO, Chamber of Commerce; a member of United Way of Sikeston, MO; Jr. Women’s Club of Sikeston, MO; and the Lions Club of Sikeston, MO; Past Board Member of the American Cancer Society; American Heart Association; American Lung Association; and the Kenny Rogers C.P. Center in Sikeston, MO. She was Past President, Secretary, Vice President, and Treasurer of Sikeston Lions Club where she was awarded the Lion of the Year and the Melvin Jones Award, the highest award given; member of the Eastern Star in Sikeston, MO; and the Ducks Unlimited and PEO Chapter F in Germantown, TN.
Judy was a member of the Germantown Presbyterian Church in Germantown, TN, where she served as Leadership and Resources Chairman for the Germantown Presbyterian Women’s Organization and a member of the Cornerstone Theatre Group.
She was a graduate of Mid-South School of Banking at the University of Memphis. She was the V.P. of First National Bank for twenty years in their Investment Department when she was hired by Edward Jones as a financial advisor to run their Sikeston branch in 1995.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki Throgmorton Weaver and Stan Weaver of Germantown, TN, and Jennifer and Dr. Barry Vescovo of Memphis, TN; one son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Sheila Beggs of Sikeston, MO; eight grandchildren, Dr. Ashley and Drew Ray of Germantown, TN, Kelsey and Austin Weaver of Germantown, TN, Bryce Beggs and Taylor Beggs of Sikeston, MO, Shelby and Austin Hailey of Sikeston, MO; two great-grandchildren, Jax Ray and Riley Weaver; one sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Stephen Taylor of Sikeston, MO; two nephews, Garrett Taylor and Justin Taylor, and their wives; three great-nieces; three great-nephews; one aunt (Sandy Groves), and several cousins. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO, with Reverend Susan Carter Wiggins of Germantown Presbyterian Church in Germantown, TN, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, MO.
Pallbearers will be Justin Taylor, Garrett Taylor, Bryce Beggs, Taylor Beggs, Austin Weaver, Drew Ray, and Austin Hailey.
