Janice Marie “Janie” Nichols, 72, died September 11, 2013, at the Miner Nursing Center. Born September 5, 1941, in Chaffee, to the late Lottis Faye and Irene Lacey Hill, she was employed as a cook by both New Madrid County School and the Matthews School. She was a member of the Matthews Church of Christ. On August 29, 1957, in Vanduser, she married Vincent Nichols, who survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Francis Nichols of Canalou; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Debbie and James Rhodes of Sikeston, Tina Wilburn of Sikeston, Mary Jacobs of Sikeston, and Shana and Craig Archie of East Prairie; one sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Billy Johnson of Dexter; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson.
Visitation will be held beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, September 13, until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with Jimmy Colvett of the Matthews Church of Christ, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Matthews City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Josh Carter, Lance Rhodes, Luke Rhodes, Justin Holder, Tyler Gilmore and James Rhodes.
