Carl Edward McKnight Sr., 84, of Morehouse, passed away at 2:48a.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at his home. Carl was born on February 22, 1931, in Caddo, Okla., to parents Walter and Sarah Belle Bailey McKnight, who preceded him in death. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and thus became known as PFC Carl McKnight during the years 1951-1952. He was later employed by Agrico for 38 years. On October 11, 1951, in Marion, Ark., Carl married Violetta Mae Adams, who preceded him in death after 61 years of marriage.
Children born into their union include Paula McKnight of Campti, La.; Carletta Joan Hemphill, Linda Ellen Slade and Steve McKnight, all of Morehouse; and Carl and Pam McKnight Jr. of Prairieville, La. Carl is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is loved and cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge Rose Cochran for her 15 years of love, service and devotion to them.
In addition to his parents and wife, Carl was preceded in death by two grandsons, Paul Thomas and Carl Joseph McKnight, three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 30, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Randy Conn, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Morehouse, officiating.
Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors provided by the Missouri Funeral Honor Guard.
