William Hendrick Tyler was born September 1, 1931 in Zwolle, Louisiana to the late William M. Tyler and Lula Pate Tyler. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, achieving numerous awards. After his discharge, he began a career in welding. Bill was also active in many organizations, including United Pipe Trades Local Union #100, Masonic Lodge #447 of Blanchard, Louisiana and El Karubah Shriners of Shreveport, Louisiana.
Bill was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was a longtime resident of Oil City. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his family. His favorite color was blue and is favorite singer is Hank Williams. He was especially fond of his song, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry". He also liked listening to other Country Classic Artists like Patsy Cline and Faron Young.
Bill passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 in Bossier City, Louisiana at the age of 92. He will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Dewey Tyler and Gary Tyler, parents, brother, Robert Tyler and nephews.
Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life and wife of 73 years, Evia Joiner Tyler; brother, Donnie Tyler and wife, Eileen; grandsons, Tommy Tyler and wife, Margaret and Alex Tyler and wife, Hunter; granddaughter, Tricia Moon and husband, David; numerous great grandchildren; extended family members and his beloved dog, Rosie.
A visitation for William will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, followed by a Celebration of Life at Graveside at 2:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Jerry Gramm, Trey Morris, Alex Tyler, Tommy Tyler, David Moon and Randy Johnson.
