Wanda Beshea was born October 29, 1939 in Robeline, Louisiana to the late David Melvin Self and Evelyn Welborn Self. She was a resident of Shreveport and a graduate of Mansfield High School. She worked as a telephone operator in downtown Shreveport and for Western Electric/ AT&T. Wanda enjoyed working in her flower garden. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and painting gifts for her family. Wanda loved her family and was happiest when family and friends gathered at her home.
Wanda went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the age of 85 surrounded by her family. She is now reunited in Heaven with her parents and her brother, David Self.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 64 years, Dee Beshea; her sisters, Mary Bragg and Syble Solesbee; sons, Wesley Beshea (BJ) and Waymon Beshea (Christine); daughter, Wendy Beshea Wagnon (Ronnie); grandchildren, Wesley David Beshea (Joannah), Cali Solomon (David), Kasie Sanford (Sandy), Melissa Lynn, Elisha Howell, Amanda Owens (John) and a host of great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Wanda will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108. A celebration of life will occur Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating the services will be Bro. William Roby with a tribute from her son, Waymon Beshea. She will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Sheldon Edgell, Nick Lindner, Ryan Herren, John Owens, Sam Lowrey, Jack Woods and Leroy McDaniel
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org, in honor of her three year old great grandson, Allen "Big Al" Owens, who is battling B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or to Alzheimer's Association, https://www.alz.org/, in memory of her mother, Evelyn, who suffered from Alzheimer's.
