Verna M Allen

Verna was an amazing woman. She loved to fish, cook, bake and read. Verna also loved watching The Walking Dead on Sunday nights as well as feeding her colony of cats. She was a talented piano player and loved playing hymns and classical music for her adoring husband. Verna had a huge heart and took care of everybody.

Verna joins in Heaven her paternal grandparents, Lonzo David Wallace and Sally Arnold Wallace; maternal grandparents, John Alexander Dennis and Addie Mae McCollum Dennis; father Vernon Wallace; mother Celestine Dennis Wallace; and brother Dennis Wayne Wallace.

Left to cherish Verna's memory is her husband, James Allen; daughters, Stella Allen and Shelley Gordy and her husband Timmy; seven grandchildren, Matthew Buckner, Emily Buckner, Aubrey Buckner, Michael Gordy, David Gordy, Jacob Gordy, and Joshua Gordy.

Services for Verna will be held Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 10:00am. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 5pm until 7pm. Interment will immediately follow services Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Buckner, Michael Gordy, David Gordy, Jacob Gordy, Joshua Gordy, Denver Clark III. Honorary pallbearer will be Daniel Salazar.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff at Christus Highland Medical Center and with Christus Hospice for their care during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to be made to Shreveport and Bossier Rescue Mission.
