Shreveport, LA~ Valta Ruth Nunley Loftin was born May 25, 1930. She went to be with her Lord peacefully Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at her home following a courageous battle with breast cancer. She graduated from Shreveport Charity School of Nursing in 1950. She was proud to be a Registered Nurse and worked mostly at Hinds General Hospital, Jackson, MS before retiring. Mrs. Loftin was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church for more than 20 years. She was fond of reading, sewing and craftwork. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Loftin was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Nellie Nunley; husband, Harry Loftin; daughter-in-law, Kim Loftin; and three brothers, Dane, Earl and Herman Nunley. She is survived by her son, Michael Loftin of Shreveport; daughter, Nelwyn Brantley and husband Allen of Philadephia,MS; grandchildren, Ronnie Brantley and wife Erin of Germantown,TN and Ben Brantley and wife Angela of Flowood,MS; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Brayden, Grant, and Laura Leigh Brantley; sister, Nedra Nunley; sister-in-law, Estelle Nunley; brothers, Chesley Nunley and wife Pilar and Don Nunley and wife JoAnn; brother-in-law, Luther Wayne Loftin and wife Amelia; other relatives and a host of friends.
A service celebrating the life of Mrs. Loftin will be conducted Monday, November 2, 2015, 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. John Harp. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation For Breast Cancer Research.
