Tommy was born in Hodge, Louisiana on August 9, 1949 to Jessie “Cotton” and Dorothy Pickett Giddens. He passed away at the age of 67 after a lengthy illness, resulting from a stroke and diabetes on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Service will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 10:00 am with Brother Brent Shoalmire officiating. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Cemetery.
Tommy graduated from Woodlawn High School. He then served a tour in Vietnam. He returned home and went to work for KCS Railroad. He was employed by KCS Railroad for many years and retired from KCS Railroad.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, “Cotton” Giddens, and both, his maternal grandparents, Hazel and Dave Pickett and paternal grandparents, Tom and Zera Giddens. Also, preceding him in death were his mother-in-law, Tessie Stanley and father-in-law, Royce Stanley.
Those left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Wanda Stanley Giddens, his mother, Dorothy Giddens of Stonewall, one son, Thaddeus Giddens and wife, Brandi of Columbia, TN., Three grandchildren, Julie, TJ, and Harlie, one great - granddaughter Laiken Hindsman, two brothers, Harold Giddens and wife, Chadra of Texarkana, and Ronnie Giddens and wife, Sybil of Plano, TX. Also surviving Tommy, is his Aunt Doris Bamburg of Stonewall, and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and in-laws.
Honoring Tommy as pallbearers will be Garland Kaylor, Doug Talley, Peyton Giddens, Jere’ Wren, Scotty Wren, and Bo Pearson.
Tommy’s family wishes to thank the VA Hospital Staff, University Health (LSU) Hospital staff, and Heritage Manor South staff for the diligence while Tommy was in their care.
