Celebration of Life services for Mr. Thomas Coleman, 66, will be held Thursday, March 24, 2011, 2:00 p.m. in Centuries Chapel with Dr. Howard Hall officiating. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday, March 23, 2011, from the hours of 5-8 p.m. at Centuries.
Mr. Coleman was born September 26, 1944, to the late Dillard D. and Mary Belle Van Hook Coleman and was called home March 21, 2011, following a lengthy illness. He retired as an insurance agent with All State; he was owner of a construction company, a realtor-associate, a teacher and a coach. Thomas graduated from Northeast State University in 1968 and was a baseball and football player with the nick name of TANK. Mr. Coleman will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, an awesome grandfather and trusting friend to those who knew him best.
Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Troy Christopher “Chris” Coleman, and two brothers, Dillard Coleman Jr. and Steve Coleman. Left to cherish Mr. Coleman’s memories and tell his stories will be his beloved wife of 42 years, Janis Rich Coleman; four children, Todd Coleman, Jill Greening, Julie Presley and Jared Freeman, and Jennifer and David Mann; a mother-in-law, Nelda Thurmond; ten grandchildren, McKenzie, Claudia, Madelyn, Rileigh, Jackson, Lainey, Chance, Lydia, Kaleb, and Bailey; nieces, nephews, along with numerous extended family members and many great friends.
Honoring Mr. Coleman as pallbearers will be Todd Coleman, Laine Coleman, Shane Coleman, David Mann II, Jared Freeman, and Andrew Easley. Honorary pallbearer is Troy Christopher Coleman.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Hernandez for his care and compassion provided, Mr. Coleman in his time of need.
