Terry Christopher Smith, age 74, of Converse, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Born in Honey Grove, Texas, Terry was a man whose greatest joys came from his deep love for his family and his connection to the natural world. He was a lover of the outdoors, finding peace in both hunting and fishing, and he cherished the time spent in nature. Above all, Terry’s family was the cornerstone of his life, and he found his greatest fulfillment in their company.
Terry is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Gloria Smith; his son, Richard Smith and wife Jamie; his daughter, Shannon Smith Sherman and husband Jon; his brother, Joel Richard Smith; and his beloved grandchildren, Andrew Smith (Kristen), Krysten Singleton, Halie Smith Booker (Brandon), Cody Singleton, Justin Smith (Elizabeth), Ashley Sherman Roberts (James), and his great-grandchildren, Serena Singleton, Annilyn Booker, Reed Smith, Elijah Booker, Whitlynn Smith, Aubree Mae Smith, Sawyer Smith, and Samuel Booker.
He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Christopher Smith Jr.; his parents, Carl Smith Sr. and Margery; his in-laws, W.L and Estelle Kirkland; and his brothers, Carl Smith Jr. and William Don Smith.
Terry’s passion for nature was only matched by his love for his family. Whether he was spending quiet moments outdoors or sharing stories with his loved ones, Terry was known for his gentle spirit, his sense of humor, and his unwavering dedication to those he held dear. Terry was a man who made an impression on everyone he met. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held for Terry on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A celebration of life will take place on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home & Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, Memories East; Lot 1018, Grave 3.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Smith, Krysten Singleton, Halie Booker, Cody Singleton, Justin Smith, and Ashley Roberts.
