Sue Dennis Phillips was born in Jonesboro, Louisiana on March 13, 1934. She was the daughter of Lawson and Inez (Gilbert) Dennis. She graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School and then went to business school in Tyler, Texas.
After finishing school, she moved to Shreveport and went to work at a bank. While living in Shreveport she met and married Gil Phillips from New Bedford, Massachusetts, who was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base. They married on October 3, 1954 and settled in Shreveport where he eventually opened Phillips Music and Sue kept the books for him.
She had a lifelong love for the game of Bridge, and played with numerous women over the years who all became cherished friends. She and her husband also joined the Pelican Travelers RV club, and enjoyed many trips with them.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gil Phillips; her brother and sister in law, Ronald and Pat Dennis; and her grandson, Michael Shaw.
She is survived by her son, Gene Phillips (Betty); her daughter, Dale Phillips; grandchildren Kelli Baker (Michael), Jennifer Phillips, Julie Phillips, and James Phillips (Heidi). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews; ten great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
Arrangements are pending for a private family burial at Centuries Memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
