Robert Eldon McMillian was born on January 29, 1928, and went home to be with the Lord on August 17, 2012. On this day he was reunited in heaven with his lovely wife of 32 years, Lela Self McMillian; his mother, Ida Clayon McMillian; his father, T.A. McMillian; and brothers, T.A., Jr., Henry, Howard, and Aubrey McMillian.
For a season, he leaves behind his six children, Debra Robertson and husband Doug, Gary McMillian and wife Marcell, Annette Johnson, Nelda Robinson and husband Jerry, Randy McMillian, and Mark McMillian and wife Deania. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and one sister, Helen Richmond.
Robert “Bob” McMillian was a member of the 233rd Ammo Company in the U.S. Army and retired from KCS Railroad after 36 years of service. Raising cows, drinking coffee, growing tomatoes, cooking, telling jokes, and spending time with his large family- especially his grandkids- were his favorite pass times. “Papa” will be missed by all!
Visitation will be held Sunday evening, August 19th from 5-8 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 20th at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with graveside following. The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at Spring Lake Guest Care, Pastor Mike Stowell, Dr. Billy Bickham, and special friends, Bill Ebarb and Katy Hawthorne for their constant love and support over the past years.
Pallbearers will be Gary, Randy, and Mark McMillian, Jerry Robinson, Ronnie Herring, and Jimbo Davlin. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Robertson, Bill Ebarb, Blake, Brock, Brandon, and Brian Tyler McMillian, Garrett Johnson, Ryan Phillips, and Justin Robinson.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Family Life Center fund at First Baptist Keithville.
