Robert Louis Johnston, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and accomplished Landman, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024. Born on December 31, 1945, in the Tri-State Hospital in Shreveport to Robert Hillary Johnston and Ann Ward Johnston, Robert lived a full and meaningful life.
A 1963 graduate of Fair Park High School, Robert went on to earn a degree from Louisiana Tech University in 1968. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country, earning a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and completing a tour in Korea in 1970.
Robert spent 45 successful years as a Professional Landman, working across Louisiana, East Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama. He was well-respected for his expertise, work ethic, and integrity in the field.
Robert was a man of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and a generous heart. As a dedicated member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, he served his community and congregation with humility and purpose in various roles. Known for his quick wit and love of humor, Robert was a master of dad jokes, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. Despite his steadfast and reliable nature, Robert's fun-loving personality shone through, reminding everyone around him to not take themselves too seriously. He was a steady anchor for his loved ones, providing guidance and a sense of unwavering reliability in every aspect of his life.
Robert was preceded in death by by his father, Robert Hillary Johnston; his mother, Ann Ward Johnston; his amazing wife, Karen Kivell Johnston; and his half-brother, Charles Edward Bates.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Hillary Anne Johnston Wilson (husband, Dave Wilson), four grandchildren that he loved very much, Skylor Wilson (30), Marnie Wilson (19), Devyn Wilson (17), and Simeon Johnston Wilson (2); his brother James "Jimmy" Johnston (wife Kathy Johnston); his much loved nephews, David Kivell (wife, Jessica Kivell), Kelly Kivell, Bradley “Brad” Johnston (wife, Kim Johnston); great nephew, Aiden Johnston (10); great niece, Jimmy Lou Marie Kivell (2 months) and countless other family members and dear friends who he loved like family.
Mike Asher, Ron Denny, Harry Fletcher, Harvey Ramsey, James Johnston, Brad Johnston, Bradon Adams, and Tyler Adams will serve as pallbearers. Ronny Martin and Ken Hunt will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Robert will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his many contributions to his profession. His legacy lives on in the love and memories he leaves behind. His loss will also be felt deeply by the many colleagues, friends, and family members who admired his steadfast character.
