She is preceded in death by her parents,Odis Wilson Johnson and Audrey Mae Anderson Johnson, brothers J. W. Johnson, Randall Johnson and Donald Johnson. She leaves behind a sister in law Pat Johnson, nephews Jack Dickerson, Michael Dickerson, David Johnson, Timothy Johnson, James Johnson and Kenneth Johnson, her nieces Teresa Stewart and Glenda Johnson. She is also survived by many great nieces, nephews, lifelong friends and godchildren.
Rena was lucky enough to have survived a childhood where her two older brothers thought it amusing to roll her down hills in old tires or convince her to scare her sleeping grandfather with a BB gun. She left her small town in Arkansas at the age of sixteen to start a new life in Houston, where she made deep and lifelong friendships with people from all walks of life. She subsequently moved to Shreveport and began nursing school in her midlife. There, this Texan learned to love Mardi Gras, opening her home to everyone on parade days. She was always the favorite aunt and favorite godmother to all. She never met
a stranger and loved everyone deeply. She loved to travel and never missed any trips she could make. There is truly no adequate way to express how much she will be missed by many.
Rena had many occupations during her lifetime including working in a pharmacy, several start up businesses, nursing and being a nanny. She could easily list being the life of the party, but we do not believe she ever received monetary compensation for this. She was also a mom to many, many pets over the years.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff at Christus Highland who were very helpful in her final days as well as the staff at Garden Park who provided her excellent care over the last three years.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Centuries Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport Louisiana, 71118 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers Rena would like nothing more than if you donated time or funds to any animal rescue or shelter in your area.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.CenturiesMemorialFH.com for the Johnson family.
